5 Main Reasons Why Android Is Better Than iOS
The ultimate battle between two biggest competitors besides Pepsi and Coca-Cola. This battle lasts for a long time now. You can always start a discussion if you mention that Android is better than iOS and vice versa. Audiences that are loyal to these brands are the real ultimate fighters.
According to IDC, in 2017, these two platforms accounted for 99.7% of all shipped smartphones. This statistic perfectly tells you how much impact they have on the market.
The title of this article will already trigger a lot of iOS users. Not to mention the discussion this article will bring when I list the reasons on why Android is better. As a mobile phone user who had an iPhone and an Android phone, I will try to be as unbiased on the opinions I give today.
Also if you’re a mobile game developer, you should be careful when you’re choosing your programming language. It’s not the same for Android and iOS. The majority of readers will already know that. But we’re just giving you a warning and why you should do research before developing.
Without hesitation, let’s see why Android is better than iOS.
The cost of the newest iPhone on the market is $999. That’s a bit too much if you ask me. My optimal price range for a good phone would be around $499-$699. The last mobile phone I personally bought was a Xiaomi Mi5 and the cost was $549. I’m loving this phone and I still use it today. That’s something you can find if you are an Android user.
Affordable and good phones are always a good deal. A thousand dollar phone isn’t always a good deal and it’s definitely the most expensive iPhone Apple has ever created. Don’t get me wrong, there are Android phones that cost the same as iPhone X but there are not so many options you can choose from when it comes to Apple.
With Android, you have a lot of freedom to choose a phone that you actually like. Whether it’s the newest Samsung, Huawei, HTC, Sony or Xiaomi, there’s so much to choose from.
As good as the iPhone X is, it’s not perfect. It comes at a cost that might instantly put you off.
Android has a history of having durable batteries. Most of the iPhones made in the past have been recognized as battery life drainers. The last couple of version aren’t so bad because they have wireless and fast charging options.
Android had a battery charge advantage for quite some time, but lately iOS is pretty much the same. The only thing that is different is that when you buy an Android phone, you instantly get a fast charger. On the other hand, iOS fast chargers need to be bought separately from the phone.
Since we recently mentioned pricing as an advantage of having an Android phone, we’re coming to that again. If you buy an Android phone, there’s no extra expense for a fast charger.
This one is a clear winner and all know already why – Google. Gmail is by far the most popular email system in the world. It’s a default email provider in comparison to iOS Mail. And I strongly believe that a lot of iOS users are downloading Google apps which are normal to use on Android. Because it’s simply the best email service out there. The praise comes especially if you’re a Google Drive user for business, college or personal data.
As an iOS user, there’s a high possibility you’re also using Google Maps. Apple Maps were developed and they’re used by a lot of people, but you can’t simply compare their functionality. If you don’t want to get lost, we highly recommend that you use Google Maps.
Right of the bat, Google Drive or iCloud? Google Drive offers 15GB of storage and has a cross platform support. On the other hand iCloud doesn’t offer cross platform support and you get 5GB only.
If you need backup services for your business, Google Drive offers you a $24 per year for 100GB. When Google set their prices for storage, Apple had to put their prices down too. So Google is the leader when it comes to backup. They can regulate the prices and there are many more Google Drive users than iCloud users.
As Apple confirms that their security is so good, how many times have you seen iCloud internet leaks more than Google Drive leaks?
Also, when we talk about photos, there’s no doubt that Google Photos is the best option. It offers unlimited free storage and unlimited photo/video backup in full resolution if you own a Google-branded Pixel phone.
Android vs iOS Customization
With Android it’s really easy to express your creativity and use it on your phone. You can use different themes, make them or even change the entire user interface. Android also allows you to set up third-party apps as your default options for many things that are still locked down in iOS.
If you enjoy having a personalized phone where you can customize pretty much everything, Android is for you. Stand out from the crowd and have a unique design on your phone. You definitely have the freedom to do that.
