Canva Success Story: A Mobile Design App

Canva Success Story: A Mobile Design App

As we’re living in the digital age, we tend to spend more and more time on our mobile phones. According to hackernoon, out of 65% digital media use last year, we now use our mobiles more often than we use our computers.

We’re also constantly searching for apps that will make our lives easier. Either if they’re for paying tickets, for getting discounts or for making creative designs. One of those apps that make our lives easier is Canva. Today we’re going to talk about Canva success story and how it came to life.

Canva originally launched as a website and recently released a fully featured mobile app for Android and iOS. Some of Canvas most popular designs include posters, banner ads, Instagram posts, Twitter posts, Soundcloud banners, infographics, resumes, business cards, photo collages, logos and gift certificates. There are endless possibilities with Canva and we definitely recommend that you check them out.

Canvas mobile app currently has 10 million downloads on Google Play with an 4.7 rating (419K reviews)

Creative Idea

Canva success story didn’t happen overnight. How do you scale a startup to over $300 million in value in 3 years? That’s what 27 year old Melanie Perkins has done with her Australian startup, canva.com. According to Melanie, the first mentions of Canva were in her mum’s living room.

The idea of Canva was originally born out-of another idea in the year 2007. During that time, Melanie was teaching the students of University of Western Australia. She taught students on how to use programs such as Photoshop and InDesign. During her classes she realized that most of the students found it extremely difficult to understand the basics of the program.

In an attempt to simplify the process, Melanie created an online tool to create school yearbooks, called “Fusion Books,”

Fusion Books was a success and is still doing amazing business in their home country Australia. But the technology that it was using was far more advanced and had applications beyond that of creating only yearbooks, so with aims of bringing about a change for a larger audience, they found Canva in August 2012!

After hundreds of pitches Melanie gave to possible investors, she finally found the right one and in 2013 Canva raised its first $3 million – before it had even launched its website. With a big capital, Canva had gone from zero to one million users in a year. Today, Canva has more than 10 million users across 190 countries. And has more than 100 million designs created on its platform.

Canva app was launched for iOS users in 2016 and since December, last year, it is also available on Android devices.

Simplicity

Canvas simplicity is impeccable. I use it pretty much on a daily basis for all of my article cover photos. Every cover photo that you see on our blog is made in Canva. It’s easy to add a background, it’s easy to add .png photos and there are many creative and free options that you can use in your designs.

Designs are made with only just dragging and dropping and anyone can do it. You don’t need to be a professional to use Canva, you just need to have a finger.

Photo Library And Premium Content

When you start making a design on Canva, there are endless opportunities when it comes to photos and fonts. Canva lets you be creative and explore what designs you might like the best. There’s actually more to that because you can have your own photo library and upload your own photos. I personally love to make designs with .png photos combined with different background colors.

The app itself is free, but if you want special effects and premium images, they will cost you around 1$. It’s definitely not a lot if you get the result you wanted.

Canva Success Story Is Motivational

Imagine that Melanie Perkins, at 30 years of age, is one of the youngest female CEOs to be leading a $1 billion startup. It started with just an idea and a frustration that came from complicated programs. If you’re looking for some inspiration to start working on something similar, I believe that everything you read in this post is enough. Canva success story can inspire a lot of people and it has personally inspired me too. Imagine that you’re teaching at college, and a couple of years later you’re leading a billion dollar company.

It’s amazing how a simple tool can change so many lives and impact so many designs. Everyone can be creative and express themselves with a tool that anyone can understand.

I have been browsing on-line greater than three hours today,
but I never discovered any attention-grabbing article like yours.
It’s pretty price sufficient for me. Personally, if all webmasters
and bloggers made just right content material as
you did, the internet will likely be much more useful
    than ever before.
